What is Smart Works?

Smart Works is a UK wide charity run by women, for women. We empower our clients to enter the workplace through our free, personalised dressing and coaching service.

Is this service for me?

Yes! If you are a woman who is unemployed or on a zero-hour contract, our service is for you. We are here to support all women, including transgender women, and non-binary people who feel their gender expression connects with the Smart Works service and wardrobe.

We support a range of clients – from those who are recently unemployed, to those who need help preparing for their first ever interview.

What support is available to me?

We use the power of high-quality clothing and one-to-one coaching to empower all women into employment. Your appointment can be delivered in person at one of our centres, or virtually.

In just 2 hours, our team will empower you with the confidence and skills to succeed at your interview. Your appointment will include:

  • 1 hour with our incredible dressers to find your free, high-quality interview outfit that is yours to keep.
  • 1 hour with our expert interview coach focusing on how to highlight your skills and present the best version of yourself at interview. You will also receive a free interview guide to take home, where you can find additional advice on how to succeed.

After your appointment, we will wave you goodbye and keep our fingers crossed. Once you’ve secured a role, you can give us a call back to book in your second dressing, where you will receive a capsule work wardrobe to keep you going until your first pay check.

We’ll connect you with an expert coach for a one-hour session providing personalised, practical support to help you get the interview you want.

This hour is completely dedicated to you and the resources that you need. Whether it’s help with writing CV’s and cover letters, or suggestions on how to develop your workplace skills – our coaches are there to listen and bring out the best in you.

Not close to one of our centres? Don’t worry we can offer all our appointments virtually!

Ahead of your appointment, you’ll receive a confirmation email alongside a video link or further instructions about how your appointment will be conducted. On the day you’ll join the video call or phone call at the time of your appointment.

If we’re helping you prepare for an interview, our friendly dressers will present options to you based on your wardrobe preferences. Once you have chosen your new outfit, it will be posted to you within 48 hours so that you have it ready for your interview. You’ll then join the call with one of our expert coaches.
