The charity is run by CEO, Kate Stephens and a senior leadership team. They are supported by focused, energetic and ambitious staff who bring their different experiences to ensure we can do the best for our clients.

Kate Stephens, Chief Executive Officer
Kate Stephens is CEO of Smart Works, leading our mission to roll out nationwide and allow any woman in need to find her way to Smart Works. Based in London, Kate runs our Group operations and oversees our long-established London service, ensuring that we maintain our standards whilst growing our reach across the UK. Kate combines senior private sector experience with a passion for the entrepreneurial, dynamic and inspirational charity sector, learnt first as Trustee, Vice Chair and then Chair of a leading family charity and now as CEO of Smart Works. She is also a trustee of WIG, a charity that fosters learning between the public, private and third sector.
“Smart Works is a brilliantly simple and practical concept that works. After their visit, well over half of the women we contact go on to get the job. Seeing the service in action every day is a great privilege and an inspiration to all of us who work here. We are passionate about improving the lives of women, and want to take the Smart Works service to as many women as we can across the UK.”

Rosemary Ashworth, Chief Operating Officer
Rosie leads the Service Delivery team who are the stewards of UK service delivery. The team is responsible for preparing and empowering clients for interviews and ensuring London is a centre of excellence & innovation, with excellent day to day relationships between HQ and regional centres. Rosie is also responsible for operations across the Smart Works Group.
“I love Smart Works because our service is focused, tangible, and impactful. Every day, clients walk through our doors and in a few short hours, our dedicated volunteers help a woman to look and feel confident, so she feels ready to take on the world. It’s a privilege to witness this transformation first-hand and a real joy to be part of such an incredible community.“

Mehala Manimohan, Director of Finance
Mehala has overall responsibility for the financial control and management of the charity.
”I joined Smart Works as the Head of Finance, to apply my finance and accounting skills in support of its mission. I am passionate about its goal of enhancing economic independence among women. My high light so far is the dedication and commitment of the team in working together towards achieving our objectives.”
The team set the highest standards and thrive on rolling up their sleeves, working together and above all, seeing every day the tangible impact of the Smart Works service on the women who come to our centres.
