Spin for Smart Works: cycling event raises over £40,000 for Smart Works centres across the UK
Organisations and individuals celebrated International Women’s Day 2017 by taking part in a cycling fundraiser for Smart Works.
More than 60 teams from across the UK took to the roads and their local gyms to tackle the Spin for Smart Works challenge. Teams of 5 were challenged to cycle 500 miles across 5 days, the equivalent distance between each Smart Works site (Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Reading and London). Teams chose which Smart Works site they were fundraising for, collectively cycling an incredible 27,836.81 miles raising an impressive total of over £40,000 between them.
Smart Works Reading saw representation from several partner organisations, including Oracle, Pythagoras and Verizon, with an additional team from St Johns University of Oxford.
In total they raised over £3,000 for Smart Works Reading and cycled a total of 3,061.5 miles. An amazing feat to reach. The money raised by the Reading teams in the Spin for Smart Works challenge will help us to continue offering our wonderful and effective service to the women in the Thames Valley.
Thank you to all who took part!
