The Smart Works Sustainable Clothing Sale is back! image

After the success of our June event, Smart Works Newcastle are hosting another Sustainable Clothing Sale – and it’s bigger and better.

In advance of our main sale day on Thursday, 17th October, why not join us for our pre-shopping event?

Hosted at Newcastle University Students Union in collaboration with NU Fashion Society – enjoy a complimentary drink, first pick of some of our hidden designer treasures and amazing bargains before we open the doors to the public, entertainment from NUFS, plus shopping from Cat Call Clothing and Melanie Kyles.

Expect finds by:

French Connection, Cos, Monsoon, Zara, Warehouse, Boden, Coast, Karen Millen, Whistles, Jaeger, Ted Baker, Ralph Lauren, Hobbs,Toast, Topshop…..and more!

Tickets are £5 per person, with all funds raised directly supporting local women into employment by allowing us to continue to deliver the Smart Works service.

And don’t worry – this spree won’t break the bank as most items are £8 or less!

Smart Works Newcastle helps unemployed women get back into work by providing them with the coaching, clothes and confidence needed to get a job. Since launching in Newcastle in 2018, the national charity has helped more than 370 women with confirmed job interviews find employment.

Newcastle University Fashion Society is Newcastle’s answer to the multifaceted Fashion industry. With no fashion degrees on campus, NUFS allows its members to delve into the world of fashion through modelling opportunities, photography, videography, blogging, content creation, weekly sewing lessons and socials.

The society provides an opportunity for members to meet like-minded fashion enthusiasts and learn valuable new skills. As one of the largest societies on campus, NUFS hosts a variety of inclusive events including one of the biggest events on the university calendar, the NUFS Annual Fashion Show.

Melanie Kyles is an embroidery artist based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, bringing together contemporary craftsmanship and sustainable fashion with her original designs and hand-crafted creative expression. Using carefully sourced materials with minimal environmental impact such as GOTS certified organic cotton and surplus fabrics, she will be selling a range of hair accessories, embellished vintage berets, customised organic/pre-loved clothing and hand-embroidered patches, each one hand-finished and unique. Melanie will also be offering a pop-up service of hand-embroidered monograms and zodiac symbols from £3 per character with a large range of colours to choose from, so don’t forget to bring along any early Christmas gifts or clothes you’d like to be personalised!

Catcall is a tongue-in-cheek independent clothing brand based in the North East. Catcall specialise in graphic tees, accessories and making everyone feel great in their own skin. They will be bringing to the event their classic tees as well as some brand new releases which have never before been seen. So let’s give them something to shout about.
