Smart Works Newcastle Hosts Lunch with Lulu Guinness

We recently held a fantastic fundraising event with one of the UK’s most celebrated fashion designer, Lulu Guinness.

Lulu Guinness, OBE became famous for her witty, iconic handbags and accessories. The brand’s creations have been seen on the arms of trailblazing women, such as Kate Moss, Oprah Winfrey, Gillian Anderson and Emma Watson.

Guinness’ informal fashion talk, followed by a question-and answers session, took place during lunch at SIX Roof Top Restaurant, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, on Wednesday, 18th September. Guests met and heard from one of Britain’s most successful fashion designers, while enjoying breath taking views and a delicious two course meal from SIX’s Autumn Menu. Alongside the event there was also an opportunity to win fabulous prizes from Lulu Guinness, the Barbour Foundation, Dobson & Parnell, John Lewis & Partners and more. The event raised over £4,000 to support our core service. We hope to be able to help even more women from across the North East with the confidence, the self-belief and the practical tools they require to succeed at interview and start a new chapter of their life.

NatWest kindly supported the event as event partner. Nickie Kilkenny, Business Growth Enabler said:

“Building confidence going into an interview or business meeting is absolutely vital in obtaining a successful outcome, and at NatWest we are committed to enabling women from all backgrounds in their career ambitions. Smart Works Newcastle offers an important service to women across the North East and we are delighted to support the fundraising event to help them continue to deliver this vital work.”

We would like to say a special thank you to Lulu Guinness, SIX Restaurant and Nickie Kilkenny for helping this event to take place.
