“I love volunteering at Smart Works Leeds. Being part of helping women to build their confidence and be as well prepared as possible for interview and the first weeks at work is a real privilege and always puts a smile on my face.”

There are five areas that we need volunteers to help at Smart Works Leeds.

Dressing Volunteers:

Our dressing volunteers have got an eye for style. They help our clients to find the perfect outfit for their interview. We’re always looking for volunteers who have brilliant people skills, a love of fashion and plenty of patience to ensure they find the outfit that makes our clients shine the brightest!

Ideally you’d be able to volunteer at least one weekday a month in our centre.

Interview coach:

Interview volunteers help clients prepare for their interview by focusing on their skills, their confidence and their presentation. You will need a background in HR, recruitment or senior management to become an interview coach.

We look for people who can commit to at least one weekday a month with the possibility of picking up extra appointments if you are able to.

To become an interview coach, you will shadow one of our existing coaches for a couple of sessions until you feel comfortable going it alone! We provide interview preparation and career coaching guidebooks to use as a reference too.

Wardrobe Volunteer:

Our Wardrobe volunteers ensure that our dressing room is immaculate, our fundraising events are incredible and, most importantly, that every Smart Works client leaves their dressing appointment feeling confident about their upcoming interview.

If you are highly organised, colour coordinate your wardrobe, love clothes and have lots of energy this is the role for you. The role will involve sorting, steaming, organising and tidying the wardrobe and dressing areas to ensure maximum efficiency of space.

We look for people to volunteer one weekday per month.

Admin Volunteer:

Admin volunteers support our team with office duties such as greeting clients, data entry and client calls.

If you have customer service/admin experience then this is the role for you!

We ask that you are able to give approximately 2 days a month – we can be flexible in terms of which days you can do.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Answer phone calls and speak to people who would like to use our service
  • Book appointments using our database (training provided)
  • Welcome clients to the centre for their appointments
  • Input client questionnaires to our central database

Outreach Volunteer:

Referral and outreach work is essential as it allows us to speak directly with referral partners, potential clients and ensures that we can spread the word about our service. This volunteer will report to Lottie, our Outreach Lead, who is looking for support with a range of engagement and outreach opportunities including jobs fairs, networking meetings and information events.

We are looking for volunteers across Yorkshire to support Smart Works Leeds in their local area. This role is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in areas relating to not for profits, social work, community action and female empowerment.

Commitment: One full day per month with scope to volunteer more should you wish.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Smart Works Leeds at events and meetings.
  • Talk to potential clients about the service that we provide and how it can help them with their job search.
  • Connect with potential referral partners (job centres, employment schemes, other charities) and tell them about the services we offer.
  • Raise awareness of what we do and who we can support.

Travel is necessary in this role as we are invited to events across the Yorkshire. Please tell us in your application which areas you are able to cover (e.g. Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, York etc).

All reasonable travel expenses will be paid.
