Alexandra Burke to become Smart Works Ambassador image

Smart Works is delighted to announce that singer and actress, Alexandra Burke will be joining us as an Ambassador.

Alexandra is a welcome new member of the Smart Works family.  She has a fierce passion for empowering women and has already contributed so much to the charity, including hosting an event for the Smart Works Network and donating many wonderful pieces to our wardrobe.

During the event she hosted for us, over 100 previous Smart Works clients tuned in to hear Alexandra speak about her experiences in the working world and share some honest and inspirational advice about how to manage anxiety and self-doubt.

About her new role Alexandra said: “Far too often unemployment leaves individuals feeling worthless and worried about the future. It’s all too easy to lose our self confidence and worth. However, Smart Works is helping so many incredible women around the UK to overcome this and I’m beyond honoured to have been asked to become an Ambassador.

Unemployment can have a detrimental effect on our mental health. Those first steps back into the big wide world again can be tough and scary, especially when people are financially impacted leading to a complete lack of self confidence in our ability to be that amazing individual we all are.

What is so wonderful about Smart Works is they do not discriminate or judge anyone’s circumstances. They treat every woman as equal. Anyone who is unemployed with a confirmed job interview is welcome to visit one of the many Smart Works centres. Here they offer a two hour service for the job interview with a wardrobe bursting with clothes that will leave you feeling your sensational best. The amazing women who have used the service have all told me they’ve left feeling full of confidence and in a better mind set for their job interview.

I first heard about Smart Works 6 months ago when a family friend suggested that I donate some clothes to the charity. Initially, as with any charity donation request, I had so many questions, the more I spoke with the Smart Works team and learnt about the wonderful work they do, I wanted to do more than just donate clothes. I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with some of the women Smart Works has helped during a webinar and as I heard the inspiring success stories, I felt I needed to try and help raise awareness for this incredible charity.”

Sometimes we need a helping hand to give us that boost of confidence. No matter what we’ve been through we can all shine bright again. I’m so proud to have been asked to become a Smart Works Ambassador. Their ability to continue to empower women and help them harness the confidence they need to succeed is so inspiring. I am truly looking forward to working with Smart Works and hope I’m able to encourage more women to support and use the incredible service provided.
