New Partnership! University of Manchester Netball Team image

The University of Manchester’s Netball Team have recently begun supporting Smart Works Greater Manchester after finding out more about what we do and the women we help.

They have been keen to get involved in Spin for Smart Works 2019, taking a break from their normal training programme to cycle 500 miles in support of our Greater Manchester centre. They have signed up an amazing 4 teams and we cant wait to see how they all get on.

The support of a local University team is an exciting new partnership for us at Smart Works Greater Manchester, and we are looking forward to working with them.

“After meeting Sadie from Smart Works and hearing all about the amazing work that the charity does in Manchester, and nation-wide, to prepare disadvantaged women for jobs and employment, we knew we wanted to get involved. As a club of 60-strong young women, we identify with the Smart Works mission to empower women, giving them the confidence they need to achieve in the job market.

Our teams will be swapping our regular fitness sessions for the Spin for Smart Works Challenge, in the hope of raising as much as we can to support the great work being done in our city. It is going to be tough, but we are the last to say that we’re not (just a little bit) competitive on and off the netball court, so we’ll be battling it out with each other for the 500 mile target! That said, we love the fact that this is a team challenge that we can all get stuck into together and share the miles.

The University of Manchester Women’s Netball Club certainly feels like a family as we train together 3-4 times a week on top of our BUCS matches and Sports Night socials! We can’t wait to take on this new challenge together- bring on spin!”
