Smart Works Newcastle trustee opportunity: Treasurer

Smart Works Newcastle are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees to provide financial support through the first exciting months and years, helping us to build a sustainable financial model to support our growth plans.

Who are we: Smart Works Newcastle is a registered charity focused on helping out-of-work women on low incomes get back into the workforce. Part of a UK Network, Smart Works Newcastle launched in Spring this year.

What we do: At Smart Works, we provide interview coaching, high-quality interview clothes and styling advice to women in need. We support women to develop the confidence and skills to succeed at job interview and move on with their life.

You: The Treasurer will Chair the Finance, Audit and Risk committee and be responsible for our financial affairs. This will include monitoring financial performance and developing and maintaining financial records including preparing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and reports. You will bring the skills and experience to support the Board to make informed financial decisions. You will have significant experience of financial reporting (preferably AAT qualified) and be prepared to take a hands-on approach. Experience of charity law would be welcome but more important is your commitment to the ethos and values of Smart Works Newcastle.

Your commitment: Currently the Board meet monthly in an evening and as a new charity there are some additional operational requirements. Meetings will move to quarterly as we become established.
