Smart Works Turns Five image

This year, Smart Works turns five and to commemorate this milestone, we celebrated in style by hosting a party at the incredible Terrace at the House of Lords.

It was fantastic to see so many of our supporters, volunteers and friends who have helped us create 15000 moments of magic over the years. Guests included representatives from our wonderful referral agencies ranging from the prison service to the Prince’s Trust, as well as corporate supporters, our funders and the people from across the UK who deliver the Smart Works service.

We were also extremely lucky to welcome all four of our patrons; Betty Jackson, Jennifer Saunders, Jane Shepherdson and Emma Barnett who kindly drew the winning tickets for two lucky winners of our raffle.

Speeches included our Chair Lady Juliet Hughes-Hallett, who founded Smart Works five years ago and still volunteers today. The highlight of these speeches was our brilliant client Fatma who really brought our service to life by talking about her experience at Smart Works. All whilst wearing the fabulous outfit that she was styled in when she came for her appointment. As our CEO Kate Stephens said, the 15000 appointments we’ve delivered in the last five years aren’t just appointments.  They’re 15000 moments of magic, when a woman has looked in the mirror and started to believe in her own future.

Talking of fabulous, the team from Bobbi Brown were on hand to give guests mini-makeovers so they felt and looked their best throughout the evening.

Since opening, Smart Works has helped 11000 women, opened 7 centres in total and supported 60% of the women we have seen back into employment.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. It has been an incredible five years and we look forward to the next.
